The exceptional life of Dr. Giuliano Grassi
Dr. Giuliano Grassi was a visionary scientist with an extraordinary breadth of expertise. His ambitions extended far beyond his picturesque vineyard in Tuscany, Italy.
In the 1960s, he began his career working on atomic energy and advanced nuclear breeder reactors in the UK, Italy, and France. However, he soon recognized the limited future of these technologies. From the 1980s onward, he shifted his focus to renewable energy, particularly bioenergy and photovoltaics, where he became a leading figure.
Dr. Grassi played a pivotal role in managing large-scale renewable energy projects across Europe, working from Brussels on behalf of the European Union. His efforts extended globally, fostering collaboration with key stakeholders in India, China, Latin America, and Africa.
One of his most notable achievements was the founding of EUBIA, the European Biomass Industry Association, headquartered in Brussels. Dr. Grassi’s remarkable life was characterized by unyielding dedication to his dreams and an enduring commitment to advancing renewable energy. He remains a true pioneer and hero of a new energy era.
